data centres and energy landscapes
Megabytes vs Megawatts is a research project that studies ongoing infrastructure developments and societal imaginaries at play in making data centers more environmentally sustainable. Our focus is on how ideas of sustainability are produced at the intersection between data infrastructure and energy grids, what challenges and societal frictions emerge when these two critical infrastructures interrelate, and how are these challenges imagined to be resolved.
The project is funded by the Marianne and Marcus Wallenberg Foundation. It is based at Linköping University and the PI is Julia Velkova. Read more here. We have published a debate article in Dagens Nyheter which can be found here.

Relations of data centres and energy in Sörmland
My part of the project explores the relations between local communities, infrastructure and landscape in rural Sörmland. A large part of my research interest with this project is how we visualise data centres and their relations. Publications will be updated here shortly.
